Shawn Serfas was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and grew up exploring the northern reaches of his home province's lakes and rivers. He received his BA from the University of Saskatchewan and his MFA from the University of Alberta. His research interests include contemporary painting, drawing and printmaking practices concerning relational aesthetic, religion, the landscape, as well as issues bordering abstraction and representation. Shawn is an Associate Professor in the Visual Arts Department at Brock University. He currently resides in the Niagara region of Ontario with his wife and children.
