JOHN BARKLEY
John Barkley is a painter and scholar living in Chelsea, Quebec. He was born in Ottawa in 1964 and raised in the Ottawa Valley. When John was young his father, an artist as well, encouraged him to draw and paint and eventually took him on outings into the country to paint. John's degrees include a Master of Arts in Religion from Carlton University in 2001, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Ottawa in 1996, and a Bachelor of Arts, Law and Psychology from Carlton University. He is a dedicated scholar whose studies and interests factor significantly in his artwork.
John has been pursuing a professional artistic practice since 1996. For the last seven years John has worked in his studio in Wakefield, Quebec as a full time artist. John's paintings explore humanity's relationship to nature and experimenting with paint application. John Barkley's works have been exhibited extensively and been reviewed in The Ottawa Citizen and The Globe and Mail. His paintings are part of numerous private and corporate collections.
