Greg Hargarten, one of the founding members of the group "Men Who Paint", is a Saskatoon painter and musician. He has been painting since he was young but was inspired to pursue it more seriously in 2005, after attending a workshop at the University of Saskatchewan, Kenderdine Campus at Emma Lake. He is a self taught artist and loves to explore painting and the Canadian landscape through en plein air painting and travels all around Canada painting what he sees. Painting in the landscape gives Greg the motivation to work quickly and the energy of his quick pace shows though in his application of paint. He is inspired by many of the well known Canadian artist in the Group of Seven, Tom Thompson, J. E. H. MacDonald, Arthur Lismer and A. J. Casson.
