DAVID ALEXANDER
David Alexander's bold interpretations of the North American landscape feature vibrant colour and dynamic brushwork. Born in Vancouver in 1947, David attended Vancouver School of Art, Vancouver City College and Notre Dame University where he received at BFA in painting and sculpture. He received his MFA from the University of Saskatchewan, attended the Emma Lake Artists' Workshops, and subsequently carried out research in Aix-en-Provence, Giverny, London, Paris, New York and Boston. David has had a long and varied career that has taken him across Canada and the USA as a curator, drawing instructor, workshop coordinator, visiting artist, artist-in-residence and juror. He has travelled to the Iceland Academy of Fine Arts as their visiting artist. He has taught at the U of S, Boston Museum, McMaster University, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and University of British Columbia.
David lived in Saskatoon for over 20 years but now resides in his birth province of British Columbia. He is well known and respected in the art community here and across North America and has had exhibitions in cities around the world. David's works can be found in many private and corporate collections including the Canadian Embassy in Warsaw, Poland and Beijing, China.
